Sleek Oh So Special Palette with EOTD

Ok I’m a little bit behind with this but it has been so popular and now I know why. I had to go to a Superdrug at 7.45am to see if it was in their delivery that day! That’s how much I wanted it. I lusted over every bloggers post about it, and rightly so, I think it’s probably my favourite palette out of the lot!

It has a great mix of shimmers and mattes, after using my Storm palette for my brows for ages now I was glad to find something else to use that was slightly lighter, Boxed is the perfect brow colour for me.

Swatchies!

Top Row
Bow*, Organza, Ribbon*, Gift Basket, Glitz, Celebrate
Pamper*, Gateau, The Mall*, Boxed*, Wrapped Up*, Noir*
* = Matte

For this quick EOTD I applied UDPP all over the lid, I blended Bow all over using a MAC 227, then I applied Gateau on the lid and about 2 3rds of the way over, I then applied Wrapped Up in the crease using a crease brush by Crown and blending with a MAC 217, then lightly applied Celebrate on the outer V to intensify. I used Boxed for my eyebrows. I dragged Wrapped Up under the eye with a MAC 266 brush and highlighted the inner corner with a bit more of the Gateau colour. This colour is my favourite! I lined my eye with UD 24/7 pencil in Zero. Curled lashes and applied more mascara. Voila!

Who else picked up this palette? I was thinking of getting the nude palette but haven’t heard such good things about it. I love this palette, I am seriously thinking about depotting all my Sleek palettes into one big palette so I can see what colours I have at a quick glance. Good idea huh!?

Thanks for reading girlies!

NOTD – Layering 2 Nails Inc polishes

Hey girlies, last week I blogged about the Nails Inc gift set my Sister ♥ bought me, you can read it here. I really liked the look of Wyndham Place in the bottle but on my nail it showed up as a berry red with a small amount of glitter in it.

I immediately saw the potential of layering it with another polish, so for this NOTD I have layered Wyndham Place and Berkeley Mews, doing this made the glitter particles come to life!

Under sunlight you can really see the sparkle and glitter, so hard to photograph!

You can just make out the glittery goodness!

A beautiful purple tone to it, perfect for the cooler chilly months

If only the photos could speak for themselves, IRL the glitter/shimmer was so much more vibrant!

Malteaser Cupcakes

Hey girlies, these cupcakes go down beautifully with a cuppa! I have made 2 batches of these now and I think I may prefer them to my Carrot Cake! They are so easy and rise beautifully!

For the cupcakes:
200g softened butter
150g caster sugar
50g brown sugar
A couple of drops of vanilla extract
4 medium size eggs
200g plain flour
10g baking powder
Pinch of salt
80g Maltesers

For the buttercream:
250g butter
500g icing sugar sifted
A couple of drops of vanilla extract
55g roughly crushed Maltesers

Optional
Wilson 1M piping nozzle and piping bag for swirly tops

1. For the cupcakes: Preheat the oven to 180°C and line a cupcake/muffin tin with cupcake cases.

2. Cream together the butter and both sugars until it is light and fluffy. I like to use an electric hand whisk to do this with.

3. Add all the vanilla and then the eggs one at a time, whisking well after each addition. If the mixture begins to look like it has curdled add a couple of tbsp of the flour and beat well until the mixture looks smooth.

4. Using a metal spoon fold in the flour, baking powder and salt (add them altogether) and then stir in the Maltesers.

5. Divide the mixture equally between the 12 cupcake cases and bake in the oven for about 25 mins or until a skewer (or toothpick) inserted in to the middle of a cupcake comes out clean. Once cooked, remove from the oven and leave to cool in the tin. (I don't use a tin, I use silicone cases from Asda)

6. For the buttercream: Using an electric handwhisk, whisk together the butter, icing sugar and vanilla until it becomes pale and fluffy.

7. You can either dollop the buttercream on top of each cupcake and spread it around with a knife. Or for a more professional look fit a piping bag with a 1cm star nozzle and pipe the buttercream on top of the cupcakes. Sprinkle on some crushed Maltesers to finish.

IF YOU DONT USE A MUFFIN TRAY OR SILICONE CASES THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS! (they were still yummy!) =D

Suede Blush from Sleek – Nude Collection

Afternoon lovers! Who else is in love with this blush? This is the only thing that took my fancy from the Nude Collection after reading bad reviews about the pigmentation of the top row of eye shadows. I did however pick up the Oh So Special palette and I think it’s my favourite so far, post to come.

This blush is a soft peachy tan colour. I’m glad I found it and stepped away from the pinks, my Coralista by Benefit and my Ladyblush by MAC, which are both soft pinks have taken a bashing!

Please excuse the posey shots, it was early, I was late for work, you know how it is =D

I love the flush of colour it gives to the cheeks and the fact it is matte means for some it would work as a contour colour too. This is my 3rd blush by Sleek, I also have Pan Tao which so far I have only swatched. Suede is so much nicer!

Have a great weekend beauties!

Bargain Nails Inc set with swatches!

Hey girlies, my sister Faye ♥ bought me this lovely present from QVC, she knows I’m a massive fan of Nails Inc polishes but at £11 each they are quite expensive. Faye ♥ had full control of the television a few weeks ago and saw this deal was too good to miss.

This whole set was £25 with PP about £3.97, it was such a bargain. I love every colour in the set, my least favourite was the grey but after swatching on a nail it has definitely grown on me. I applied two coats of each nail polish then applied one coat of the top coat.

Wyndham Place
This is a gorgeous reddy pink with beautiful blue and pink sparkles in, this was so hard to photograph, look out for a NOTD with some layering soon!

Berkeley Mews
A beaut of a colour in some lights this looks purple but on the nail and in photographs it’s blue. Such a nice colour and I can’t wait for the cold months to wear it.

Cadogan Lane
This colour reminds me of Christmas a lovely shimmery green that applies like a dream.

Wellington Street
I thought this was going to be a nightmare and would need at least 3 coats, I would say it is a bright Barbie pink, with a white base underneath it could be even brighter. Love it!

Bennet Street
I didn’t think there was a red that could outdo my OPI Vodka and Caviar but when applied to the nail it came to life! It’s fire engine red with a coral undertone.

Tavistock Street
This was my least favourite colour out of the lot and I was a little impatient before applying my top coat, you can just make out little red marks on it from the previous nail. This colour is a dark and murky grey, after applying to the nail I think I dismissed it too early and I'm sure I will rock it somewhere!

Jermyn Street
This is my fourth bottle of this, it is one of my favourite colours a light brown taupey colour with a purple undertone. I blogged about this a long time ago click HERE.

Top Coat
Applied to each nail, not as fast drying as Seche Vite but very shiney!

Thank you Faye ♥ for buying me this beautiful set! It really is lovely

FOTN

Hey girlies, here’s a quick FOTN of the make up I wore out for the in-laws anniversary last weekend. I tried filming it this weekend but my camera cut out half way through and you could see up my nostrils throughout the whole thing, it wasn’t pretty. I think I’ll be asking santa for a new camera this Christmas! Any suggestions?

Apologies for blurry photo =S

A little Giveaway with Sudocream!

Hey lovelies, I was contacted by the lovely Hayden on behalf of Sudocream to review a tube of it and do a little giveaway.

I’ve heard amazing things about Sudocream recently in the beauty world, I think Cheryl Cole has a bit to do with it too since stating it was her fav cream. Anyway, I’ll be honest, I never bought any of this before simply because of the packaging, I felt it was quite bulky and a little annoying to carry around when on holidays etc, since being sent a tube though it has definitely improved. It’s a thick protective cream that soothes immediately (hence why we slap it on the kids bums for nappy rash), the formula helps repair any irritations and gets the skin back to it’s best.

Hayden sent me some a couple of months ago and I have made a conscious effort to use it at least 2-3 times a week. The smell is a little off putting and after a few applications Darren ♥ asked me if I could do it at the weekend and not wear it to bed! Haha. He said I smelt like a chemist. I do really like the cream and think it’s a must have in the bathroom cupboard or First Aid box but for me it doesn’t belong in my beauty regime.

What are your thoughts on this?

I am giving away 2 tubes of this stuff, (one per person, that’s 2 seperate prizes).
You must be a follower through GFC
Leave me a comment below telling me if you use the cream and why?

Also for a bit of fun (not compulsory) you can see what the bagology app reveals about you on facebook, if you do it let me know below!

Please leave me your email address so I can email you for your address.

This giveaway closes on Friday 16th September at 12 noon, where I will choose 2 separate winners from your entries below.

Good Luck beauties!

NOTD - Cross it baby!

OPI Vodka and Caviar, GOSH Holographic and red rhinestones from eBay

Really not impressed with the longevity of GOSH holographic polish, it is renowned for chipping/peeling but 2 hours after application! That just takes the biscuit!

Did we all have a nice weekend?

NYX Round Lipsticks with lip swatches! - PIC HEAVY

Hey lovers! I’ve always wanted to try NYX lipsticks after watching You Tube videos with girls in the US using them. They are available on Love-Makeup for £3.50 but with £2.95 delivery. I looked on eBay and found a seller in the US that ships to the UK, I got 6 NYX round lipsticks for £10.44! What a bargain eh!

I ordered these on the 17th August and they came on the 24th all wrapped in bubble wrap. When ordering these I had to write the number and the name of each lipstick I wanted in a message to the SELLER.

Whilst looking on eBay a few other sellers had listed Strawberry Milk (595) as a dupe for MAC’s Snob and Thalia as a dupe for MAC’s Viva Glam  I don’t own either of these MAC lippies so can’t do a fair comparison I just thought I’d let you know what a few others think.

Now for the swatches

Fig

Strawberry Milk

Thalia

Indian Pink

Tea Rose

Paris

Apologies for my Fox-like whiskers round my lips, I need a wax! haha!

Having never tried these lippies before I applied some vaseline so that my lips wouldn't be too dry, but boy there really wasn't any need, these lippies are so moisturising. I didn't find them drying at all.

My favourites so far are Fig, Thalia, Tea Rose and Paris. These are all what I would call safe colours for me, soft pinks and purples are so easy to wear on day to day. Before buying these I've been using Patisserie by MAC every day (which my chum Charlotte Taylor described as 'My lips but better' and I agree with that) however having these NYX lippies, I can now use these day to day instead. I've read a few reviews saying the staying power of them isn't too great but for the money I paid for them I don't mind that.

Indian Pink is a beautiful colour, an orange creme shot through with gold and Strawberry Milk is a very light barbie like colour I will keep them, I'm sure I'll get a use out of them one day.

Do any of you have NYX lipsticks? What colours am I missing out on?
